Biography

Dannell joined the Women’s Fund in 2011 and became a member of the Endowment Committee in 2015. She is the Director of Business Development and a Client Advisor and Partner for Mission Wealth responsible for the firm’s business development activities. She is involved in welcoming new clients to the firm and also devotes time servicing her long-term client relationships. Dannell graduated with honors with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Spanish and Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). With almost 20 years of experience as a professional financial advisor she joined Mission Wealth in 2010, helping clients in all areas of financial and investment planning. Dannell has been a nationally featured panelist in both live and online wealth management forums, has contributed personal finance articles to various publications and has taught courses and workshops on investments and planning. She was recognized by Pacific Coast Business Times as a “Top 50 Women in Business” Editor’s Pick for Business and Finance in 2015, a “Top 40 under 40” business leader in 2008, and in the “Who’s Who in Banking and Finance” edition in 2011 and 2012.  Dannell is also on the Finance and Investment committees for Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara and is a board member of the Santa Barbara Estate Planning Council. She has been involved with Music Academy of the West, Women’s Executive Network, UCSB Planned Giving and enjoys coaching AYSO Youth Soccer.

Jacqueline Duran

Biography

Jacqueline Duran has experience in the practice of Financial Advisory. She is the President of Duran Capital Management. She was previously a Wealth Manager and Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley. Jacqueline is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and the College of Financial Planning. Jacqueline has also acted as a leader and board member of various local nonprofit organizations. She is currently a Board of Trustees at Montecito Union School District, former CFO, and current Board Member of the Friendship Center and current Board Member of STESA and SBSOS. Jacqueline is a former President of the Santa Barbara Rotary North Club.

Jane King

Biography

Jane King has been a member of the Women's Fund since 2010 and in 2015 joined the Endowment Committee. Jane grew up in Canada and has lived in Santa Barbara since 1997. She spent close to 20 years in management positions in the financial services and energy industries in Los Angeles. Most recently, she was Director of Advertising and Customer Communications for Sempra Energy and led the rebranding efforts for the company following a corporate merger. Prior to joining Sempra, Jane held positions in product management, direct marketing and advertising at both First Interstate Bank and Security Pacific Bank. She has an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Windsor, Canada. Jane is a member of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund board and, in addition to volunteering at Ganna Walska's Lotusland, she is a member of The Lotus Society.

Lynn Karlson

Biography

Lynn rejoined the Women’s Fund in 2018, participating with both the Membership Committee and a Special Projects workgroup. She grew up in Colorado and has a Master’s Degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Colorado State University. Before moving to Santa Barbara in 1989, she worked in both the Research and Public Affairs Departments of the Kansas City Federal Reserve. She has served in various nonprofit leadership roles in Santa Barbara, including as Board Chair for the Channel Islands YMCA, the Nonprofit Support Center, and The Arts Fund. She was the Vice President for Family Education Services at Independent Means Inc. before taking on the role of Executive Director for the Youth and Family Services YMCA from 2008-2016.

Suzi Schomer

Biography

Suzi has over 40 years of experience in financial services with expertise in trust and investment management and private banking in Texas, Oregon and California. She is currently a Senior Vice President and Wealth Strategist for Montecito Bank & Trust Wealth Management.  Suzi has lived in Santa Barbara for nearly 30 years and has been an active volunteer as a board member or chair of  nonprofit organizations including the Foundation for SBCC, the Wildling Museum, the Maritime Museum and VNA Health.  In addition, she served as Foreman of the Santa Barbara County Grand Jury 2012-13 and as a Trustee of the Santa Barbara County Employees’ Retirement System 2016-17.  A former member of the Women’s Fund Research Committee, Suzi has also served on the Women’s Fund Finance Committee for the past several years.
