$ 65,000 grant
2011-12
Literacy learning stations serving young children in all south Santa Barbara County libraries.

This grant funded 13 new Advanced Workstations in Education (AWE) Early Literacy Stations in five south Santa Barbara County libraries and will serve an estimated 4,000 preschool, kindergarten, and elementary aged children each month. This internet-free learning system is designed to be kid-friendly and special preinstalled software allows young children to explore reading, math, and music programs at their own pace. Parents often sit and learn with their children-an added benefit to English Language-learning adults. These stations help promote learning for youngsters at a point in their lives when educational interventions can make the most difference.
