Gardens on Hope

Grant Description: Lack of affordable housing in Santa Barbara severely impacts low-income seniors—many who are women and have lived and worked in the community as nurses, teachers and business owners. Gardens on Hope (GOH), to be located on Hope Street, is a collaboration between Garden Court, Inc. and the Housing Authority of Santa Barbara. It mirrors the Garden Court model providing housing, meals and transportation for 113 seniors annually at a cost to each resident of $750 per month. This grant is a lead gift in a $3.5 million capital campaign. Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and government grants will make up the rest of the $17.5 million total cost of the project. This grant helps decrease a wait list of over 500 seniors and create a long term senior housing legacy for the community.
