Onsite Learning Centers

Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has established successful learning centers at two of its low-income housing projects with the help of a previous Women’s Fund grant. The centers provide after school homework help for students K-8, support for college-bound high school students and workplace skills for adult residents. This grant pays salaries for bilingual educators and literacy coaches at learning centers in two new residential projects. Having onsite learning centers at all of their residential projects is an important component of the PSHH mission. By bridging the gap between school and home, promoting multi-generational education and encouraging cross-age tutoring, these programs provide residents with skills they need to succeed in school and at work.
