The following Women’s Fund volunteer positions are available to all current Women’s Fund members who meet the specified requirements.


Job Title

Site Visits Coordinator (8 Openings)

Description

Manages the Women's Fund small group visits to the grantee agencies*

  • Obtains the lists of site visit attendees (name, email and phone) from the Grantee Liaison
  • Sends reminder emails (or calls) attendees prior to each site visit date
  • Manages a wait list for each visit, if applicable
  • Coordinates with the agency if there are any special needs or concerns 
  • Attends each visit and directs foot traffic
  • Introduces the agency representative
  • Answers Women’s Fund-related questions 
  • After each visit, sends a list back to the Grantee Liaison indicating who attended and any no-shows

*Note: Each year there are approximately 5-8 Site Visit Coordinators—ideally one for each grantee. Each coordinator is responsible for managing the small group site visits for one grantee (between 3-5 visits on different dates). Each visit will accommodate 5-30 people. The work begins approximately two weeks after the Fall Site Visit Kick-Off and ends after the last site visit in mid-December.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate electronically
  • Ability to manipulate simple excel spreadsheets, a plus

Job Title

Presentation of Grants Chair

Description

Oversees development and execution of the Presentation of Grants Event*

  • Partners with and designates responsibilities to committee members (committee includes members from: Research, Communications, Major Events Operations, Steering and Finance)
  • Sets calendar for all needed planning meetings
  • Establishes, with the help of committee members, objectives for the event
  • Works with Research Committee responsible for the presentations
  • Works with Operations on event logistics and timeline
  • Along with Operations, coordinates with the venue staff (e.g., The Fess Parker)
  • Holds post-event evaluation to obtain and document lessons learned

*Note: The Presentation of Grants is a celebratory spring event where the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara announces the grantee recipients. For the last two years, the event has been held at The Fess Parker. Past event chairs have developed good documentation for key aspects of this event.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing events, small or large
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to lead a team with both vision and attention to detail and deadlines

Public Relations Manager

Description

  • Develops a strategic publicity policy
  • Plans promotional strategies and campaigns
  • Identifies opportunities to raise awareness of the Women’s Fund
  • Writes and produces non event-related press releases, articles
  • Develops relationships with local media and press
  • Analyzes effectiveness of media coverage

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Word
  • Some experience in public relations, media, marketing, or communications is a plus
