Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center: counselor on phone
$ 50,000 grant
2013-14
Crisis Intervention and Long-term Counseling Services.

This grant provided partial salaries for one Crisis Intervention Counselor and one Long-Term Counselor, and their supervisors employed by the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center - enabling SBRCC to counsel 98 victims of sexual assault. Services currently offered by SBRCC include a 24-hour hotline that provides emotional support, information and referrals and a safe place where survivors of sexual violence can heal over time in a supportive environment. The stressful economy has increased the need for services but, due to lingering consequences of the economic downturn, SBRCC expected to cut spending by 10% in 2013-14. The Women's Fund grant enabled SBRCC to fully provide the timely core services during this time of shortfall.
