Children’s Resource & Referral (CRR) increases the supply of high-quality childcare by recruiting in-home Family Child Care (FCC) Providers and helping them obtain licenses. To further their child care education, CRR and First 5 developed Family Child Care Steps to Quality Network, a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that consists of three Tiers, which upon completion can lead to accreditation. This grant will fund Tier One training for a cohort of 33 FCC providers, including 20 recruited with a previous Women’s Fund grant. They will receive interactive training, one-on-one coaching, home visits, technical assistance and age-appropriate education materials for the 265 children in their care. They will also learn how to develop a sustainable business plan and establish a network of peers for support in an often-isolating field. Local Family Child Care businesses are 99% women owned.
