Biography: 

Margie joined the Women’s Fund in 2010 and the Research as the Research Intern/Designate in 2019.  Her more than 40-year career has been almost entirely centered on higher education.  At UCSB, she served as Director of Academic Program Review, Assessment, and Accreditation, leading programs concerned with assessing the quality of academic departments, with examining student learning, and with meeting accrediting standards established by national agencies. She earlier directed the campus’s public communications. Before moving to California, she was a senior editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington, DC, managing editor for an academic journal at the University of Chicago Press, and a member of the editorial staff that launched Education Week, the first national independent newspaper to cover K-12 education, based in Washington DC.  She retired from UCSB in 2015 and serves as co-captain of Las Luces.
