Youth Mental Health Crisis Response

Casa Pacifica provides professional, around the clock mobile response for children and youth who experience a psychiatric emergency. On weekends, they are able to staff only one of two local call centers, resulting in longer wait times. This grant funds an additional Marriage and Family Therapist position to cover three 12-hour shifts, Friday to Sunday, in south Santa Barbara County. Without rapid, on-site response, children in crisis may be taken to emergency rooms or juvenile detention centers which are not equipped to meet their needs. Having continuous staffing makes it more likely that children and their families will get professional mental health help when they most need it.
