Kitchen Renovation for Hospice Home

For 28 years, Sarah House has been the only facility exclusively providing 24 hour-a-day residential hospice care for vulnerable, low-income and homeless individuals with terminal illnesses. In 2018, the agency served 70 residents. Many residents have no family support, financial resources or insurance. Currently, at the heart of the house is a dilapidated and outdated kitchen where staff are finding it increasingly difficult to prepare the needed 10,000 meals and snacks yearly. This grant will fund a complete renovation of the kitchen including new appliances, plumbing, counters, cabinets and flooring. Providing meals is just one of many services provided at Sarah House. Having a fully functional kitchen will provide a warm nurturing place at the center of the home where staff, friends and family can prepare and share food, providing comfort for vulnerable people at the end of life.
